Continuing Education
Tax Preparer Learning Systems, LLC is commited to providing high quality, easy to use, and affordable continuing education courses for tax preparers.

Enrolled agents can earn their continuing education requirements by taking one of our online tax courses.  We are an IRS approved continuing education provider - M75Y4 - and our courses are eligible for enrolled agent credit.

We are also pleased to offer our continuing education courses to those tax return preparers who were previously under the requirements of the Registered Tax Return Preparer program.  While the legal requirements are no longer effective, many tax return preparers have always been commited to increased tax knowledge.  We are proud to help those preparers maintain their own high standards.

These programs qualify for IRS continuing education credit for Enrolled Agents (EA) and/or Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents (ERPA) only. Currently, the IRS does NOT require continuing education for any other tax return preparer or PTIN holder. Participation in any of these programs is voluntary for other tax return preparers. Continuing education credits will be posted to PTIN accounts for any participant who provides their PTIN, regardless of credentials. To ensure that your continuing education credits appear correctly in your PTIN account, please provide your PTIN and name as they appear in your PTIN account. Reminder: CE providers are not required to submit program data to the IRS in real time, so your credits may appear in your PTIN account on a delay.

In that case, most taxpayers can choose to either take the standard deduction or to itemize their deductions. This course covers the first group of itemized deductions as shown on Schedule A, Itemized Deductions. Covered are 1) medical and dental expenses, 2) taxes paid, 3) interest paid, and 4) charitable contributions. Armed Forces Taxation CE Course Description
Armed Forces Taxation is a self-study continuing education course. Members of the Armed Forces are subject to a number of special tax provisions. Some of the special provisions are tax benefits to honor the members’ service and sacrifice. Others recognize the special circumstances that are present due to service in the Armed Forces.
Certain items of gross income inclusions and exclusions for the special kinds of compensation earned by Armed Forces members are examined. This is followed by a look at specific adjustments to income such as deductions for Armed Forces reservists, IRA rules, and moving expenses.
Most compensation received by members serving in a combat zone is not taxed. While not entered on a tax return because the income is excluded from Form W-2, the rules for this important tax benefit are examined.
Earned Income Credit is a significant benefit to many service members. The rules that are specific to Armed Forces members are looked at. Among other subjects covered are:
Sale of home
Employee business expenses
Forgiveness of decedent’s tax liability
Extension of deadlines
Deferral of payment
Maximum rate of interest
The course is useful for those who work with Armed Forces members regularly or occasionally. There are a number of special provisions for Armed Forces members. All tax professionals can benefit from this course.
